What is the PE and Sports Grant?
The Education Funding Agency has been providing additional funding to schools since 2013/14 to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – will be allocated to primary school Headteachers once again in 2023/2024.
What is the purpose of funding at OLI?
We spend the additional funding on improving the provision of PE and sport, focusing on 5 key indicators:
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
- Engagement of all pupils in regular physical exercise.
- The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school development.
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
- Increased participation in competitive sport.
