Physical Education
Our Lady Immaculate Primary School is committed to promoting the health and
wellbeing of its pupils through physical activity. A varied PE curriculum is in place to
support this, with activities including dance, athletics, gymnastics, games, swimming, outdoor adventure activities and intra/inter-school sporting opportunities.
PE should deliver opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills and promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. We enable children to make informed choices about physical activities throughout their lives.
Through the teaching of PE, we at Our Lady Immaculate intend to:
- foster a healthy lifestyle through sport and physical activity.
- develop children’s passion for sport and physical exercise.
- build qualities such as teamwork and fair play- ‘thrive together as a team.’
- ensure sports provision and participation is inclusive.
- provide opportunities to participate in a range of sports enrichment
experiences. - build a competitive spirit, with a focus on perseverance to achieve
personal and team goals: ‘practice, persevere and make progress.’ - nurture the children’s enjoyment of physical activity through creativity and
imagination - develop a technical and tactical range of skills across a variety of sports and
physical disciplines.
