Music
At Our Lady Immaculate School the Music curriculum is designed to develop a love and appreciation for Music in all pupils.
All children will have the opportunity to engage in the key areas of learning: listening; singing; composing and performing through a range of different learning activities reflecting the world they live in now, giving them access to musical styles throughout history and exploring how they can contribute to music in the future. All children will have equal opportunities to have hands-on experiences, interacting with various pitched and unpitched musical instruments.
Starting in Reception and Year 1 playing percussion instruments, the children then build on this through learning handbells in Year 2, recorders in Year 3, ukulele in Year 4, Djembe drums in Year 5 and keyboards in Year 6.
We aim that our children continue to grow in confidence as they progress through the musical curriculum and develop a lifelong appreciation of music.
